July 30 - August 5
The first week in August marks the beginning of each new Seattle Girls’ Choir season. The purpose of choir camp is to have fun together, strengthen chorister friendships, learn SGC traveling routines and habits that help prepare for tour and begin fall repertoire. The Seattle Girls’ Choir camp is required for girls in Allegra (ages 10 & older), Cantamus (middle & high school), and Prime Voci (high school.) Each of these choirs will assemble with choristers who are moving up a level or joining choir for the next year. The camp sister program and experience with the fall repertoire give a big boost to all girls who are new to SGC and new to their choir level.
The Seattle Girls’ Choir faculty directs the curriculum including daily sessions of vocal technique, music theory, sight-singing and choral singing. Afternoon electives may include things like Hand Bells, Yoga for Singers, House Band, Rhythm and Body, Beginning Ukulele, and Musical Theater. After dinner the girls have free time and make crafts, play games, take beach, nature or bunker walks, and have a music-centered scavenger hunt, which is a camp favorite!
Our chaperone/volunteer to camper ratio is less than 1:10. Chaperones are carefully screened and have prior experience volunteering for the choir. Our cooks provide a variety of meals that can include dairy free, meat free, or gluten free if necessary. There are medical personnel with us at camp and hospital only 15 minutes away.
Girls who are not currently enrolled in SGC will need to meet with a member of SGC faculty to evaluate which choir level would work best for them. If you would like more information about camp please email info @ seattlegirlschoir.org.
