SUMMARY:“Readings & Carols” with Byrd Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Seattle Girls Choir is proud to present Readings & Carols\, featuring Cantamus and Allegra alongside the Byrd Ensemble. This one-hour program consists of nine seasonal readings\, each paired with a traditional carol performed by the choir\, as well as a few carols sung together with the audience. \nThe program pays homage to “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” popularized by King’s College since 1918 – with a twist. Instead of exclusively lessons from Scripture\, SGC pairs our carols with a diverse set of readings that celebrate the magic of the winter season\, including excerpts from works by medieval poet Hildegard von Bingen\, “A Charlie Brown Christmas\,” and American writers e. e. cummings\, Langston Hughes\, Sara Teasdale\, and more. \nBring the whole family for a joyful celebration of winter\, the holidays\, and the coming new year! \nTickets available on TicketLeap. \nThis event is supported by:Seattle Office of Arts & Culture4CultureArtsFundSupport for reduced price admission to this performance is provided by King County 4Culture.
