My Dearest Seattle Girls Choir Friends & Families,
I am writing to let you know that the 2021-22 season will be my last with Seattle Girls Choir. I have accepted a position as Music Director of the Northwest Choirs, effective upon my return from Europe with Prime Voci in July.
I have mixed emotions about this transition, emotions that I’m still processing. Having quite literally grown up as a member of the Northwest Boychoir, I am excited to be returning to those roots. I am also looking forward to getting to work with my own son. At least I think I’m looking forward to working with him, you never know! At the same time, it is not easy to leave Seattle Girls Choir, which has been my cherished home for thirteen years. SGC will forever be near and dear to my heart.
I am so very proud of the things we have accomplished together! Since I joined Seattle Girls Choir in 2009, we have seen membership expand to the point where we needed to add three new choir levels (Piccolini, Entrata, and Sorella). I have seen the quality of instruction increase almost continually with the outstanding guidance of our music faculty. With Prime Voci I have traveled to places I never thought I’d visit and turned in some breathtaking performances that I will remember the rest of my life. Through our commissioning efforts we have helped bring works of lasting beauty into the world. And while I’m not going to say that the COVID pandemic has been a highlight of my tenure with SGC, I am extraordinarily proud of the dedication and resilience that our community has shown over the past few years. Not every arts organization has survived the pandemic, let alone thrived as we have.
While I am sad to be leaving, I do so knowing that the bond between Seattle Girls Choir and the Northwest Choirs, which has always been there, is now unbreakable through the love I hold for you all. SGC is a part of me, and I will continue to work to support the community and mission of this fine organization wherever I am.
With much love, |
