Placement Audition Requirements
Auditions are now CLOSED for the 2025-2026 season. You can join our Waitlist to be notified in March 2026 when audition signups open for the 2026 – 2027 season.
Placement auditions allow us to get acquainted with each candidate and their family! They offer us a chance to hear the candidate’s voice, ability to match pitch, make adjustments to given instructions, and determine potential placement in our program. Auditions are lowkey and offered in a super supportive and positive environment! They last approximately 10 minutes.
Each candidate will be asked to:
- Match single pitches and pitches within chords. Being able to hear a note and sing it back is critical in our audition process and evaluation.
- Echo clapped rhythmic patterns.
- Sing the first verse of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” or Row, Row, Row Your Boat with piano accompaniment (provided by us).
- Sing a song of their choice. This song doesn’t need to be complicated — we simply want to hear something the student enjoys that demonstrates her voice. The song can be from a musical, a hymn, a folk song, something from a movie, from school, an art song, or a lighter pop song. We look for potential, rather than polished performances!
