Lauren Kastanas first joined Seattle Girls Choir in 2022 as director of Sorella, SGC’s small contemporary ensemble, and was hired as Executive Director in 2024. Lauren brings a decade of experience in nonprofit fundraising and music leadership to the role. Prior to SGC, Lauren led fundraising efforts at Ada Developers Academy, and managed grant programs at Washington Conservation Action and El Centro de la Raza. Lauren founded and directed contemporary women’s a cappella group GIRL BAND (2014-2021), producing dozens of local performances as well as two studio albums. Lauren began singing choral music in 2015 with Trinity Parish Choir, then joined Radiance (formerly Vox16) and served as Board President for four years after it gained nonprofit status in 2019. She served for two years on the Board of the Greater Seattle Choral Consortium, and currently serves on the Board of the Byrd Ensemble. As a professional singer, Lauren has performed with Radiance, the Byrd Ensemble, Tudor Choir, and whatever&everamen. She also arranges contemporary/pop a cappella music and modern takes on traditional American folk songs. Lauren holds a B.A. in Public Affairs from Seattle University.
