Sarra S. Doyle – Artistic Director, Prime Voci and Allegra Conductor

Sarra S. Doyle, Artistic Director, has served on SGC’s faculty since 2009, directing Dolcine (2009-2013), Allegra (2017-present), and Prime Voci (2022-present). Prior to her appointment as Artistic Director in 2022, Sarra taught choir and orchestra in schools for nearly fifteen years, primarily at Kirkland Middle School in the Lake Washington School District and Explorer West Middle School in West Seattle. In the rehearsal room, Sarra strives to create an inclusive community that empowers students to take risks, express themselves, gain musical independence, and build self confidence. Sarra holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Washington and a Master’s in Music Education from Columbia University, and is a National Board Certified Teacher. 

Sarra is also an active professional singer, performing with many leading Northwest organizations, including the Byrd Ensemble, Tudor Choir, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Early Music Seattle, and Early Music Vancouver. At the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Sarra has performed solo roles in The Calling, Let Me Mingle Tears With Thee, and Midsummer Night’s Dream, and choral roles for Nutcracker, West Side Story, Carmina Burana, and Sweet Fields. Sarra has also worked as a church musician since 2006, holding roles as section leader, cantor, and children’s choir director for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, St. Clements of Rome, and Trinity Episcopal Parish.

Sarra lives in West Seattle with her husband, Orrin, and their two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Annie & Odie. She is a graduate of SGC, having sung in the program herself from the ages eight to eighteen.
