Seattle Girls Choir has long been a champion of arts education and the profound impact it has on the development of young minds. Unfortunately, in recent years, King County public schools have made dramatic cuts to arts programming and this has taken a toll on all students, particularly those from underserved communities.
Voting “YES” on Prop. 1 will expand access for all King County kids and families by increasing funding to hundreds of local arts, science, and heritage organizations. It will enable local organizations to provide free admission/tickets for low-income families and seniors, as well as bring performances and programs to local communities through partnerships between regional and community based cultural organizations. These enriched experiences will improve educational outcomes so that students may excel creatively and academically, with the added benefit of building strong communities that are thriving and diverse.
In our endorsement of Prop 1, Seattle Girls Choir stands alongside local music organizations such as Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Northwest Boychoir, Northwest Girlchoir, Seattle ProMusica, Seattle Chamber Music Society, and many more.
