Volunteer Job Descriptions and More!

Wondering how you can help at Seattle Girls Choir?  There is an ever changing list of possibilities. You should always feel free to contact the office if you would like to help.

We need help with:

  • Uniform fittings and hemming
  • Choir Camp
  • Periodic Mailings
  • Marketing Committee
  • Recruitment Committee
  • SGC Board of Directors
  • Concert Volunteer Coordinator
  • Fund Raising
  • Social Media

For our all choir concerts we need:

Choir Mom Chaperones (2-4 per choir for both the technical rehearsal and the concert)

Choir moms are needed to support the SGC Faculty at Town Hall.  Moms are required to be present for both the technical rehearsal  and concert  arriving 15 minutes before the choir’s call time and staying until all the choristers are picked up at the end. Unfortunately due to the nature of the work chaperones may not bring along any children with them who are not singing at the event. The SGC faculty will guide each choir through warm up, rehearsals and the concert.  Choir moms assist the faculty and support the girls as needed. Faculty and choir moms sit with the choir during the concert and assist with check in and sign out. Choir moms dress in concert black or best dress while at the performance.

Curb Greeters (2 each needed for both the technical rehearsal and the concert)

Curb Greeters (moms or dads) stand on the sidewalk of Town Hall.  They greet and direct the choristers as they exit their parent’s vehicles at the curb thereby expediting the chorister’s arrival by call time.  Promptness is mandatory for this position.

Concert Ushers (8 people)

Ushers are needed at noon on the day of the concert to help with set up, then when the performance hall doors open, take tickets and hand out programs. 4 are positioned downstairs (until 5 minutes before showtime) as patrons enter the auditorium to hand out programs. 4 are positioned upstairs to help direct to seats  taking turns monitoring the top of each stairway during the performances (a rotation is created so that you can enjoy your daughter’s performance). For the upstairs positions we do set aside seats for ushers since they “work” throughout the program. Ushers also help clean up after the concert.  Ushers wear concert black or best dress.

Boutique Assistants (2 people)

We need two people who are quick on their feet and can handle money and crowds easily.  The boutique merchandise is provided by Susan Michaels.  Boutique Assistants arrive at noon and help out before the concert and during intermission.

Flower Assistants (2 people)

On concert day we need two people in the lobby to help wrap & distribute bouquets for choristers. Work will be completed before the concert begins.

Medical Adviser

It is very helpful to have a medical professional available at the concert for any medical issues that arise.  The job of the adviser is to assist the concert manager in deciding how to best take care of any choristers who are feeling unwell. Please arrive at 10:30 AM on concert day and remain until all the choristers have been picked up.
