Welcoming a New Faculty Member

Dear Seattle Girls Choir Community,

I am very excited to introduce our newest faculty member, Jaci Cummings, who will be taking over both Dolcine and Vivissimi in the Fall. In fact, she has already started, having led the first ever (and wildly successful) Vivissimi Day Camp last week.

I’ve known Jaci for years, first socially (I taught her husband and brother-in-law), then professionally as a fellow singer on recording sessions. In one of the most serendipitous moments of my life, last spring she mentioned to me that she was considering moving on from her position teaching at Snohomish High School just as I was turning my attention to find a replacement for Sarah Moyer. I jumped at the chance to try to entice her onto the SGC faculty, and when Becca Cantrell told me she was also moving on from SGC, I offered Jaci both positions.

Jaci was also at Fort Flagler with us all week at camp (her older daughter just joined Allegra), making this year the first time we had the directors of all five auditioned choirs at camp to compare notes and strategize. It was like one big week-long faculty meeting!

I can’t emphasize enough how excited I am that Jaci is bringing her talent, energy, and professionalism to the Seattle Girls Choir, and I hope you will all join me in welcoming her to the faculty.

Thank You,

Jacob Winkler
